Background

My career began in enterprise software engineering and evolved through large-scale banking platforms, API ecosystems, cloud-native architecture, and identity systems.

That foundation matters.

It means I do not approach identity purely as an IAM specialist. I approach it as a platform architect and engineering leader who understands reliability, delivery economics, operational control, and system design at scale.

Recent work has focused on turning complex identity and security delivery into engineered, reusable systems through configuration-as-code, testing frameworks, CI/CD operating models, and delivery accelerators.

Most organisations treat identity platforms as infrastructure.

This is a mistake.

Identity platforms are software systems and should be engineered with the same discipline as any other business-critical application.

That means:

With more than two decades of experience in enterprise software engineering and architecture, Paul has designed and operated large-scale systems across banking, cloud infrastructure, and identity platforms.

His work focuses on treating complex security and identity platforms as engineered systems rather than bespoke implementations. This includes introducing configuration-as-code operating models, automated testing of identity journeys, CI/CD-driven promotion governance, and platform engineering practices that allow critical systems to be managed with the same discipline as modern software platforms.

Paul has led the design of engineering accelerators used to standardise identity platform delivery across multiple enterprise environments and has advised engineering leaders on architecture strategy, DevSecOps operating models, and platform productisation.
